Kazuhisa Miyagawa
Kazuhisa Miyagawa is Managing Director, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of SMBC MANUBANK. He joined the bank in January 2021.
Prior to his current responsibility, Mr. Miyagawa served as Deputy CEO at PT Bank BTPN Tbk from February 2019 to November 2020 after serving as President Director at PT Bank Sumitomo Mitsui Indonesia since 2014 (PT Sumitomo Mitsui Indonesia merged with PT Bank Tabungan Pensiunan Nasional Tbk. in 1029).
He served as a country manager of SMBC Group in Indonesia for nearly 7 years.
Mr. Miyagawa graduated from Gakushuin University in Tokyo, JAPAN with a Bachelor of Law degree in 1988. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and has 2 sons.
Mr. Miyagawa joined SMBC’s predecessor bank, the former Mitsui Bank Ltd., in 1998, as a Marketing Officer in the Aoyama Branch in Tokyo. He gained various experience in branches in Tokyo as well as headquarters afterward.
In 1998, Mr. Miyagawa obtained the first overseas assignment in Seoul Branch, South Korea as a manager of business promotion.
In 2000, he returned to Tokyo and to serve the subsidiary companies in Japan at Global Client Banking Department, which mainly dealt with financial institutions from the United States and Europe.
As a second overseas assignment, Mr. Miyagawa was appointed as a Joint General Manager of Seoul Branch, South Korea in 2009.
Mr. Miyagawa initiated the growth of the business with Korean major conglomerates and proposed the establishment of Global Korea Corporate Banking Department. He was subsequently assigned as General Manager of Global Korea Corporate Banking Department in Seoul.
He honed his global management capabilities through over 10 years’ experience in several countries.
