Fred Mirzaian
Fred Mirzaian joined SMBC MANUBANK in October 2022 and serves as Managing Director, Chief Operating Officer. In this role, Fred is responsible for strategic planning to build operations excellence and develop information technology infrastructure. He is a well-respected banking operations and IT executive and entrepreneur with more than 25 years’ experience in the financial services industry leading information technology, enterprise IT risk management, operations, and enterprise project management as well as back-office process improvement. Fred’s deep expertise in process improvement compliments his talent for proactively identifying and solving problems that help accelerate productivity, revenue growth, reduce expense, and mitigate risk.
Prior to joining SMBC MANUBANK, Fred served as Senior Managing Director, Head of Banking Operations and Information Technology at East West Bank. During his 15-year tenure at East West Bank he held several other leadership positions, including SVP, Sr. Director of Banking Operations & IT; SVP, Sr. Director of Enterprise Project Management Office, Third Party Risk Management and Operational Excellence; and SVP, Sr. Director of Centralized Operations.
In 1998 he co-founded and served as President and CEO of Financial Data Solutions, Inc., a California based payment processing and technology consulting company servicing top banks and credit unions. In this role, Fred was responsible for financial management, information technology, human resources, sales, marketing and operations of the company. Under his leadership FDSI grew to over 100 customers and subsequently was acquired by Open Solutions, Inc. in June of 2005.
Fred earned his bachelor’s degrees in computer science and business administration from the University of Redlands and completed the Global Bankers Program at the University of Washington, Michael G. Foster School of Business.
