HISTORY


Manufacturers Bank was formed by a group of banking entrepreneurs in June, 1962, in downtown Los Angeles to serve the robust apparel industry. Today our scope has expanded to serve the specialized needs of California middle market businesses manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, importers, exporters, and service companies, including small businesses and professionals.

October 1962
- Manufacturers Bank opens its doors at 135 East Ninth Street, Los Angeles, California.

November 1974 - The Mitsui Bank of California, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Mitsui Bank, Ltd., Tokyo, Japan, opens its first office in the World Trade Center in downtown Los Angeles.

June 1981 - Manufacturers Bank is acquired by Mitsui Bank, Limited. Soon after, Mitsui Bank of California merges with Manufacturers Bank, and Mitsui Manufacturers Bank is created.

March 1992 - Our parent takes on the name The Sakura Bank Limited, we drop Mitsui from our name and became simply Manufacturers Bank again.

April 2001 - Our parent The Sakura Bank Limited merges with Sumitomo Bank, Ltd. to start anew as Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation. The merger creates one of the largest networks of financial services in the world.

December 2011 - As of December 31, 2011, Manufacturers Bank is well capitalized with a Tier 1 and a Total risk-based capital ratios of 18.52% and 19.79% respectively.

Regulators minimum requirements for Manufacturers Bank peer banks for tier 1 and total risk-based capital are 6.0% and 10.0%, respectively


June 2012 - Manufacturers Bank Celebrates 50th Year Anniversary!  On June 27th Manufacturers Bank Corporate Headquarters Office located at 515 S Figueroa Street, Los Angeles, California was presented with a special proclamation award for serving the community for 50 years. Rogelio Navar the Senior Director for the Mayor of the City of Los Angeles and Kathy Godfrey the Chief of Staff for the City of Los Angeles presented The Proclamation. The event was filled with numerous activities, including: the presentation of The Proclamation to Mitsugu Serizawa, Chairman and CEO and Naresh Sheth, President and COO; a cake cutting ceremony, and special acknowledgement was given to Homeless Health Care of Los Angeles and Drew Child Development who offer community outreach programs focused on "giving back to our community."

February 2013 - Manufacturers Bank proudly opens a new branch at 520 N. Brand Avenue, Suite 175, Glendale, CA 91203. An Open House and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held on March 27, 2013.

August 2014 - On August 8, 2014, Manufacturers Bank celebrated the Grand Opening of a new financial center located in Brea, California.  The Brea Financial Center contains a full service branch that will serve the needs of our faithful City of Industry customers while cultivating the Bank's brand in this vibrant Sourthern California marketplace.  Brett Murdoch, Mayor, City of Brea presented a special proclamation welcoming the bank to the local community.  The bank featured two non-profit organizations at the ceremony.  The visibility will help expand programs at the Brea VFW post 8574 and the Brea Olinda Life Skills and Best Buddies program.
